The International Trademark Association (INTA) has joined the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) to support the retention of user fees at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), to fund critical technology infrastructure improvements and protect crucial human capital. Important brands have proven their strength against recession in the 5th annual Millward Brown Optimor BrandZ Top100 Most Valuable Global Brands ranking released on April 2010.

.CO Registry has announced that will implement a group of mechanisms to secure the rights of brand owners worldwide.
Protections announced by .CO registry:
1) Sunrise process (starting in April) where owners of registered trademarks will be able to register the corresponding .CO domain before registration is opened to the general public.
2) IP Clearinghouse to assist brand owners in securing their brands in .CO during the Sunrise process.

OHIM (Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market), in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Offices of UK, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy, Benelux, Portugal, and OMPI (Intellectual Property World Organization) has been working on TMView project which makes available to users a common repository of trademarks data. USTPO, the United States Patent & Trademark Office, opened a new service looking to help non-technical & first-time users called Trademark Information Network (TMIN) .One could say that this Information Network is an online training center aimed to help trademark aplicants.
