AIPLA 2009 Annual Meeting

Between 15 to 17 of October 2009 the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) held their annual meeting in Washington, with more than 2000 IP professionals attendees. They share, and connect with one another and provide insight into some of the most pressing issues facing our profession today.

IPO 2009 Annual Meeting

Between 13 to 15 of September 2009 the Intellectual Property Owners (IPO) held their annual meeting in Chicago, with more than 1600 attendees. The main topic of the meeting was to set up the gudielines for the Active Committees.

In 2009, IPO has 29 Standing IP Committees responsible for seven areas of intellectual property policy, law and practice. Committees prepare reports on current government, public affairs and business issues and develop recommendations for the IPO Board of Directors. Appointments are made by the IPO President.

The 3rd China Trademark Festival

The 3rd China International Trademark Festival opened in Qingdao city of Shandong province on November 9, which was the most influential event within the domestic trademark industry.

The trademark festival attracted over 70 guests from 20 or more countries, districts and international organizations including World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Trademark Association, the United States, Japan and Ukraine. More than 3,000 delegates took part in the festival from domestic and overseas IP governmental organs, agency organizations and famous trademark enterprises.

This trademark festival will last four days and will hold a series of events including China Trademark Annual Meeting, Domestic & Foreign Trademark Agency Development Forum, China Trademark Contest, Agricultural Product & Geographic Indication Exhibition and China Trademark Festival Presentation Party.

5th AIPPI Forum in Buenos Aires

The International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property, generally known under the abbreviated name AIPPI, is the world’s leading non government International Organization dedicated to the development and improvement of intellectual property.

The Attendees of the 5th AIPPI Forum in Buenos Aires 2009 (click to read the complete forum) used this instance to talk about “Recent developments in the criterion of inventive step”, “Trademarks and the Internet Comparison web sites, meta tags, keywords, the Google keyword policy and other current issues”, among other topics.

ASIPI Congress 2009: Lima, Peru.

ASIPI celebrated the XVII International Congress of Interamerican Intellectual Property. Topics such us “The Future of Intellectual Property” and “Solutions for Intellectual Property Controversials” were discussed between October 25th to October 28th, 2009.

OHIM at China Trademark Annual Meeting

A delegation from OHIM will be attending the China Trade Mark Annual Meeting (CTAM 09) and the Third Session of the China Trade Mark Festival from 9 12 November at Qingdao in Shandong Province.

The theme of CTAM 09 is, Using Trade Mark Strategy to Develop China into an Innovation Oriented Country. The OHIM group, led by Oreste Montalto, Director ad personam at the Cancellation and Litigation Department, will give presentations and participate actively in the opening of the event.

CTAM 09 is a well known event that has helped promote the development of the Chinese trade mark industry. It includes presentations on international and domestic trade mark law, exchanges of experience, and interesting case studies.

The Third Session of the China Trade Mark Festival covers issues such as agricultural trade marks and Geographical Indications. It attracts trade mark officials from different countries, senior judges, IP experts, entrepreneurs, lawyers and agents.
