China’s .CN Domain Registration Rules are Changing

NIC ChinaIn December 2009 the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) announce that registration rules for .CN domain names will experiment big changes… and it´s true.

Since that time individuals and companies must include the original application form with business seal, company business license (photocopy), and registrant ID (photocopy). If some of the required documents are not included in the application the requested domain will be deleted. Lets remember that this new policy is an upgrade to the biggest domain registration policy over the world.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that this change will help in the supposed online porn problem and also will allow the government to keep a tighter rein on who registers what domain names and creates what websites. Internet freedom fighters saw this change as a strategic movement to expand control over the web in China, the country with more people connected to the web.
