Domain statistics: over 100 million .COM and .NET domains

Domain Registrar VeriSign announced domain statistics: second quarter (2010) ended with approximately 101.5 million active domain names in the adjusted zone for .com and .net.

Internet Tops 192 Million Domain Name Registrations

The Domain Name Industry closed 2009 with more than 192 million domain name registrations across all of the Top Level Domain Names (TLDs), an increase of nearly 15 million domain name registrations since the end of 2008.

In terms of total registrations, .com continues to have the highest base followed by .cn (China), .de (Germany), .net, .uk (United Kingdom), .org, .info, .nl (Netherlands), .eu (European Union), and .ru (Russia).

The last quarter of 2009 ended with 78.6 million ccTLD domain name registrations, an increase of nearly 7.5 million domain name registrations since the end of 2008. Continue reading ‘Internet Tops 192 Million Domain Name Registrations’
