.KR should include at least one Hangeul character and the length of hanguel domain name should be more than 2 and less than 17 characters for technical reasons.
Requirements for third level domains are as follows:
- Letters of the Alphabet [A Z] or [a to z], numbers [0 9], and hyphens are available for domain names.
- A domain name shall contain a minimum of 2 characters and a maximum of 17 characters.
- A domain name shall not begin or end with a hyphen.

Requirements for third level domains are as follows:
- Registrants shall ensure that all information in the registration record of a domain name is up to date, complete and accurate.
- Upon registration of a domain name, it is the registrants’ responsibility to take any necessary steps to avoid infringing on the rights of others, thereby violating the law.
The applicant shall submit an application to the Registry via an authorized agency and provide the following information on the application:
- The domain name applied for.
- The name and address of the applicant, a copy of the certificate and certificate number
- The name, address and email address of the administrator.
- Name server information.
- Other information required by the Registry.
Registrants must abide by the following terms and conditions
- Registrants must have the local presence within Korea
- Registrants must meet certain criteria that is classified by characteristics of the 2nd level domains
- Registrants must have a postal address of their place of residence in Korea.
How do I register a KR domain name?
If domain name that you intend to register is available, you should contact one of the authorized agencies. Many authorized agencies allow you to register domain names with them immediately thorough automated functions on their web site. Before you register domain name, make sure you fully understand the authorize agency’s terms and conditions.
Who can register a KR domain name?
Individuals/Organizations that have the local presence within Korea are eligible for registering a KR domain name.
What is an Authorized Agency?
An authorized agency is the company or organization that you choose to register your domain name thorough.
Authorization to be an authorized agency is granted by the South Korea Registry after strict criteria are met. However, authorized agency will act on your behalf rather than the Registry’s behalf.
How do I modify the contact details of my domain name?
Once registered, all kinds of modification are managed by the Authorized Agency.
How do I update the name server information of my domain name?
If you need to update the name server information associated with your domain name registration, you should do this through your Authorized Agency.
It is the Authorized Agency’s responsibility to update your name server information via the Registry’s automated system.
Name server Information updated by your Authorized Agency will be reflected in .KR name server three times a day at 08:40, 12:40 and 18:40(KST).
